In this section we'll explore some basic ecological principles, including how to read the vertical layers of the plant kingdom and dive deep into etymology - the study of the origin of words. There will be some opportunities to think critically about the systems we use to name plants, considering the part that Latin has to play, as well as a practice where we look for clues in our local areas which might tell us what plants and landscapes were once there.
